Elusive vs. Actionable
HAPPINESS
Elusive–how do I get there and how long do I wait?
INSPIRATION
Actionable – attainable right now
The path to the happiness we’ve come to know, expect and accept is elusive, while the path to inspiration is immediate.
Getting happy isn’t instantaneous. Sometimes it’s a lot of work. Sometimes it’s a lot of waiting or infinite waiting, or when we get happy, it’s not what we expected. We all know what it means to feel happy, but the path to this experience is too often confusing and ambiguously out of reach.
Inspiration, on the other hand, is actionable. You can get inspired intentionally anytime, anywhere. You don’t have to wait or wonder how to feel inspired; you just do it!
Having a tough day? Go on a run, watch the sunset, bake cookies and fill your home with a delicious aroma, build something, go to your favorite drop-in sport. Don’t have time to squeeze that into your day? Get on Google, Pinterest, or Instagram and geek out on other people that share inspiration with you. Get lost in inspiration anytime, anywhere, and don’t wait for that big promotion, new relationship, or leaner body to enjoy life and feel alive!
Happiness Example: I’m not feeling happy. I need to feel happy. What can I do to feel happy? I’d be happy if I had more money or lost weight or had a better job. How can I do that? That’s not possible in the foreseeable future. I guess I’ll just wait for something to make me happy.
Inspired Example: I’m not feeling happy. I’m going to get inspired! I’m going to go on a walk in a beautiful park/enjoy a cup of something delicious/work on my craft project/read a great book/build something in my workshop/watch the sunset/savor my favorite food/do anything that inspires me, and I’m going to do it right now!
